I recently headed downtown to Travis to the new El Big Bad restaurant for their press dinner. I love this space; walking in to the left is a great bar area, to the right is high seating if you just have a few to your group. Before you walk up the blue stairs or across the water as we like to say there is this beautiful wall space where all their award winning infused tequilas are sitting. Walk upstairs and there is a forest, a wall of vines with lit up words that spell Malo( which means bad) (( and yes they also own El Gran Malo in the heights… get it get it..I like how they are both connected through the wolf logo )) oh and if you don’t want to take the stairs take the elevator. As you get upstairs to the bar there is tufted booth seating more intimate and swanky. Again to the back of the bar you see the vines with a list of their specials drinks of the night, the lighting is like being outside under the stars. You want to know what is THE next hot brunch spot? It’s El Big Bad because they have the best rooftop patio that wraps around the entire place. We have our yearly christmas brunch set up this month, a group of bloggers and I and I can’t wait to celebrate under the what I call “forest” section. Oh wait I’ve said nothing about the food and everything about the decor, I feed off my surroundings and I guess I’m excited for this new blood. So the first time I ever had tongue tacos was this night and I have to admit they were very very good, my partner in crime Candace was with me, she is a vegetarian and she can tell you that she really loved the mushroom tacos she ate them both, so I will take her word for it. We also had the filet mignon with this yummy pesto sauce and I can’t remember what else was with it because I had the house rita and the strawberry churro that was super delish! The guac and chips is really interesting get them. They Officially open TONIGHT and will be opening for evenings only for what I believe will be a week and then they will open for Sunday Brunch, Lunch and Dinner. But stay connected to their website as more info may come in and change. If you go tonight I might see you there or tell me what you get! ENJOY
I have been working with a photographer as her stylist for family photo shoots and it has quickly become one of my favorite things; I’m not only working with one person but I’m working to style the whole family for something that they will have for the rest of their lives and is so grand enough that they print and hang in their house. I love working with adults but I really love styling little kids. I’m having a great time working with KarenMPhotos and I definitely recommend you check her website out and make that investment for your family. We have tried to shoot my mini family but the passed three times we have been rained out. Let me tell you how booked this woman is, she is constantly working and she is a mom to two boys and a little girl. Thankfully she found some time for us yesterday before the rain that is coming back again today and through the rest of the weekend. I run a pretty calm, positive, healthy home but we of course have our moments of distress and it felt like yesterday was hit with it all at once. It was a bit of a stressful day then we had to let it cool over and play in front of the camera and keep the kids entertained, cool and collected. She is WONDERFUL with kids. Mine do great in photoshoots they really love it but they are typical 5 year olds and we aren’t perfect. After shooting in Tomball we had a burgers at Pattys, walked around to the shops with the kids and ate icecream over at Nonnie’s Soda Shop get the banana pudding ice cream! YUM
I just started braiding her hair and created this as I went, it was pretty fun and she loved it.
Houston Children Give Back is apart of Giving Tuesday Please think about #giving to us or one of these other amazing organizations today and spread the word! Thank you! xxo
Some events deserve their own posts. My friends from Jamestown Revival will be in town this Wednesday at Mainstreet Crossing and tickets are $10. They are set to play SXSW next year so catch them at a small more intimate setting, I prefer these over the craziness of SX. I will be bringing my crew aka the mini’s; let me know if you can join would love to see some faces there.
Jamestown Revival is a group formed by Jonathan Clay and Zach Chance. After growing tired of a life mining tiger’s eye in the foothills of the Texas hill country, they hit the road to conceive a style that could be described as back-porch- folk rock.
I will be here wearing Sam & Lilli

Join Us for The Dirt Bar’s 9th Annual Toys for Tots Event.
Every year we host a Toys for Tots event in hopes of collecting toys, as well as donations, for underprivileged children in the Houston area. Last year was a huge success!!! We collected thousands of toys and helped to assure many disadvantaged children have a happier Christmas than in years past. Now we are asking for your support to help overcome the needs of less fortunate children in our community. By your monetary and/or toy donations we can help satisfy the dream of every waking child on Christmas morning with new toys under their tree. Every year our event grows larger and larger. Last year we accumulated almost $1,800 in cash donations, as well as a huge trailer filled to the brim with toys. We are hoping this year will be even bigger and better.
Please Bring an Unwrapped Toy for a Girl or Boy. We will also be accepting Cash Donations.
The Marines Will Be There In UNIFORM to Collect the Toys & Donations from 9pm-12am.
